Why are there no pics other then meez allowed for characters? Warning next bit is just my honest opinion. I think that only allowing people to use meez for both their sig and character in the dueling board will defiantly turn members away. Mostly because it really limits what you can do with the space that you have on a site and people don't really want to take the time to make one.
Lady and the rest of the staff I know you guys are in charge but you also have to take in consideration your members and what will be best for them and what will be best for your site. Since I'm on a rant might as well keep going...Element control and magic are god-modding, as long as they are used properly. Yes the temptation for god-modding is there but if it's a good role-player behind that character then they won't need to and they won't resort to g-modding if they start to lose. I've have had many characters that are element users, been part of plots and sites that were based around them. In my experience those were some of the best threads/battles I've been in.
If any of that offends I'm sorry it's not meant to offend or mock anyone I'm just stating what I think. I love the idea and plots behind this site it has a lot of potential it just needs some adjustments to get it off the ground.

Well, see here. I try to limit pictures because this is a CLEAN site with MINORS. I give the option of meez, because anime etc. is too big these days and the women I've seen are scantily clad. I also give the option of just describing your character, because this is a writing site, and if you can't do that then you've made an EPIC FAIL. However, as admin, I think that maybe I can lightnen that a little bit. Perhaps if you PM me the pic- image code is link [/img] - and I check it out and approve it, then you can post it. I just don't want a whole load of crap on here due to my negligence. And there aren't many good RP'rs...many do not know the difference between being powerful and gmodding. I'm not offended, but there is a certain code of conduct to this site and I need to keep it up, members lacking or no. Thank you for your input. Elemental magic is still forbdden for now, but I'll see about lifting it later for those people who know how to RP. Again, thank you. LadyScribe Tsonga Northstar

Instead of asuming that everyone that's joining the site is going to be posting smut why don't you show a little faith in your members and just look at the pics when approving their characters. If you find that it's a little to revealing then ask them to change it. 9 times out of 10 they will. I'm used to more demanding character templates. Most ask you for both pic and description so I'm sure people won't have a hard time doing that.
For the elemental magic that sounds like a good idea only giving it to those who you know will use it right.
Um...next thing. The rules are kinda vague. I suggest you split it into two different categories. The first being the general rules of conduct. Mentioning that this is a PG-13 site so no major blood/gore, sex, swearing, or anything along those lines. Just the general day to day things. The second section should be battle regulations. Explaining what g-modding and power playing is, and also the limits.
Templates could be a little more detailed I think. They are good but a key thing I think your missing is the characters history, and a example post helps too.
Last thing for this post the c-box isn't really meant for rping. From what I can tell it is probably the fastest and best way for members to get to know each other and become a community.
At this point I'm pretty sure your ticked at me. I mean come on who am I to come in and tell you your doing things wrong? Does this make me an not a very nice person? (excuse the language) Yes it does but keep in mind that everything I say is to improve the site. I am not the type of guy that will try to get you to like me. No, I'm the type of guy that will challenge you if I think it's for your benefit in the long run, knowing that you may end up hating me in the end. I'm not just pulling things out of thin air either ok. I have helped get sites off the ground, helped bring a couple back from near death and even helped build on in three days. So I do know what can make a good site and what can make it appealing to new and active members.

Okay, again, I have to be carefu because we have minors on here and one is related to me...awkward! And I screwed with admins a lot elsewhere...I just don't want to mess with jerks-like myself -on here. I got my own site for a reason. *shrugs* And the demanding charrie template...glad you like the elemental restriction idea, because g-modding is REALLY annoying. I should know...I did it for about three years. The rules...yes. I just post them as I think of them, and there are few enough members now that I can just call people out and add things to the rules as I see flaws. Even though Scriptology is a year old, its still in progress. C-box...yes. I have a member right now who will only RP there, but I'm coaxing her out of it. Eventually, I'll fix that, but in the meantime it stays as it is. No, I'm not offended...after all, as admin, who says I have to listen to you? LOL, just kidding. I know you are trying to improve the site-as this rather excellent custom skin attests to-and I look forward to reading more suggestions from you in this thread. Thank you again for helping, LadyScribe Tsonga Northstar

um...more suggestions. um..I think a sidebar would be a good place to put things like new events, the c-box, and the music. I can only speak for myself but I find it kinda tedious to have to keep scrolling down to the bottom. For the music I suggest more selection and only a limited amount of songs per artists. Something that I found that goes over well is the members posting up their top 5 songs along with 2 alternatives in case you can't find one of them. This makes it so you know their is music on it that members are going to like and they will be more likely to use it. It's also kinda cool to have some mood setting songs thrown in there. Most of the stuff by Apocalyptica is great for setting a dark mood while things from kingdom hearts tend to be uplifting and hopeful. I understand that your looking out for minors but there is such a thing as going overboard and being over protective. If they were 6 or 7 years old then yeah ok it's understandable but chances are with your main plots your going to be getting 13 - 20 year olds. As you know that age group really doesn't like restrictions. Most start rping for two reasons. A they enjoying writing and B it gives them an escape from their real life. Once again I can old speak for myself but I find that I really enjoy making my characters and these templates only take me 5 - 10 minutes to fill out. I mean it doesn't have to be real elaborate but something a little more challenging I think would be more appealing. z10.invisionfree.com/Die_Alive_2/index.php?showtopic=14 That's still a simple template but it requires more then 10 minutes of thinking. Since this has become a lot more then I intended could you please move it to the general board? Also if anybody else wants to jump in with comments, complaints or suggestions of their own feel free too. The best way to improve a site is to find out what it's members want.

I would LOVE a sidebar, but I don't know the codes. Do share and I'll try to comply. As for music...I have my own standards, and very few people use it anyway. In that matter, I will not be moved. I apologize for my stubborness.
Minors is 11-14 on here...and again, some of them are related to me, so I need to be careful. And it does give them an escape from real life, but not to total smuttiness like I've seen before. Yeah, I should have fith in my members, but not too much.
I just looked at the link...I don't believe in histories because a lot of people suck at them and I hated writing them myself. *shrugs* I'll say you can add one if you want, but it's not necessary.

I lost the codes but if you go to support.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=codedatabase will find a data base of codes you can put in the headers and footers. Some of the interesting ones are Mirrored avatars and min-profile backgrounds. I understand that you may not have a lot of faith in your members but you can at least give them a few inches on their leash. Some people do suck and histories but the only way they are going to get better is if they do more of them. I hate doing them too but it's the best way to get to know your character. For the Higher Realms thread you don't need one because your basically born right there, but for the Night worlde and the others it's nice to know what they've been through. It gives them something to talk about.
